Take a break, check cells
You just... lay there for a few minutes.

You're not actually sure you can get back up.

. . .

After a little struggling, you manage to start pulling yourself to your feet. You realize very quickly that this isn't just exhaustion; you feel light headed.

...More than that. You feel light everything. It's like someone turned down the gravity, and you're being gently tugged toward the ceiling. You feel... emptier. Less.

You take a cursory glance at the viscera for any dropped loot, but the meat tube monsters don't seem to have left much (aside from a mess). You pick your torch back up; somehow, against all odds, it is still going.

The flame does feel weaker, though.

You take your time looking into the cells of both the previous hallway, and the next one. You see a few of the needled flatworms wandering across the floor or crawling up the walls, but without substantial size or a numbers advantage they seem to ignore you entirely. Most of the cells are empty, save for empty bookshelves and more broken, dirty beds. You see a number of corpses with similar growths and holes to the bloated, worm-filled bodies of earlier--but these corpses look... deflated. It's like the worms, uh, ran out of food and abandoned ship. Some of the corpses are in armor, but it all looks very large and very heavy.

In the previous hall, you find one cell with a huge, open hole in the ceiling. You can't tell what's up there through the bars, though, and you're hesitant to just walk on in and have a look when something could just as easily come down the hole.

You also find a cell with some kind of... chained... cocoon in it. It hangs from the ceiling by chains, and is wrapped in chains. Or is made of chains. You can't really tell, but it's larger than you are.

In the hall beyond the corner room, it's a lot of the same. One of the thoroughly used corpses has an actual sword near it, but it's chipped and rusted--maybe decent if you lost your knife somehow, but it wouldn't be your first choice of weapons. One of the cells has an enormous hole spanning most of the floor, not unlike the one you saw in the connecting hallway a while back. The most northwest corner room has a large number of barrels in it, almost covering the floor entirely.

Two doors that look like cell doors actually lead to a set of stairs, which then lead downward into the darkness of the floor below. That's the way you'll need to go to keep pursuing the triangle marker.

Another cell that grabs your interest looks like someone renovated it into a small office--you see a desk, some kind of shelf, a small chest. However, when you try to open the door, you discover that it's locked. You're on the outside of this one--instead of a flippable panel, the keyhole is located under the big metal pull ring. ...You're sure there's a proper name for those, but you have no idea what it is.

You lean against the door for a minute. It feels like a little more of you is being torn away, moment by moment. If the worms' acid doubled as some kind of poison, you think you'd have noticed sooner. Do you have a time limit...? You know you haven't been down here anywhere near 8 hours yet.

"Oh, no," you mutter to yourself, trying to force a joke. "It's like one of those mobile games. Th... they're gonna make me buy more actions."

You look at your torch, which seems to be fading as rapidly as you are.

...In fact, looking down the hall every torchlight seems to be receding. You thought it might just be you, but all of the light in the prison you can see is steadily dimming.

Well, lets head down the stairs before we run out of actions/light!

+1 to the Tra- I mean the Triangle Marker

also keep an eye out for a safe room at the bottom of the stairs. since we may fade soon

Perhaps grab the sword and hold it in front of us with the blade pointed downwards while we stand waiting in one of the safer cells. We might end up returning to the same place when we go to sleep again, and if we do, we don't want to lose our chance to return to this point by running off and getting killed as we fade from the dream.

well, she just said that the sword doesn't look as good as the knife she already has, so I don't think grabbing it and risking the corpse it's by coming to life would be a good idea, but getting to a safe place is. If we still have any keys left I suggest using one to open the office, but if there isn't then I think we should just try the stairs.

Find a "safe" location to camp in and will yourself awake

Maybe one of the empty cells? If any have nothing in them

it seems like we're going to go unconscious pretty soon. try finding a safe place or a bonfire to hide.

Oh come on, seriously?! This place has a time limit too?! Fuck, who designed this game anyways? *grumble grumble*

Well, we may as well press onwards, see what we can see before we get booted out.

I think it was either Tradesmen MM or possibly one the Bunker X designers

well, its a dream. we are likely waking up. but the reset thing is more likely a death thing not a wake-up thing
19th Dec 2019, 7:33 PM
Perhaps we should investigate the Do Not Reset tape now, in preparation for our next adventure.. Should we use it to mark off the area? Wrap it around ourself? Just hang onto it and hope owning it means we come back to the dungeon in the same state next time, but refreshed? I'm not sure...

Time for the first experiment.
Apparently running out of time will make Plaire pass out, so she should wrap one end of it around her hand and leave the other end around the shiv.

... Feels like using a torch as weapon uses up our time limit faster, eh ? We might have to try another way next time.

+1 Perhaps wrap a piece around our wrist?
19th Dec 2019, 7:52 PM
Run towards the triangle to see what's down there! Be prepared to die a horrible gruesome death. So far this new series is really good, I mean GOOD.
19th Dec 2019, 10:27 PM
If there are any others in the area, trade current torch for a fresh one, see if that peps us back up. If yes then use of a Plaire Flare starts an exhaustion timer, if no then it Is a timed instance. Explore further if refreshed otherwise close the door and camp the old sword room and attempt to deliberately wake up. We do Not need another black shadow to deal with next time we show up here.

You see dreams when you're exiting deep sleep state, and the time before wake is fairly limited. Our time is running out, wake up, another day awaits.
20th Dec 2019, 9:25 AM
I realize that there are stairs right there, but I hesitate to descend deeper into this place. I think we should keep going around and try to go up towards the surface. Let's not forget that this whole place is slowly flooding; the bottom floors may well be completely impassable unless we're going to play Orcco the Whale before bed tomorrow.

Might want to consider a different font for the map.
I read Office as Of fice
